Whale Visits Same Boat Daily Then Gut Tells Captain To Throw Her A Rope

It was early winter when Mick Menigoz, a man from California who was captain of a boat and used to organize whale watching tours, ran across a humpback whale in troubled circumstances.

He had a great affinity for whales, and he felt like it was his duty to help. When it happened, he was the only one there. So he was faced with a question: what could he do to help the whale without risking his own life?

He Pursued His Passion

Mick thought of himself as a lucky man: he had found a way to make a living out of his passion for whales. He would organize tours for people to see these huge sea mammals from closer.

His tours were really popular. People were amazed when they saw those humongous animals swimming around the boat. However, what he lived that one day would surpass everything he had seen before in his tours.

He Had To Do Something

Mick couldn’t help feeling concerned when he first saw the whale. It looked like it was in a rough spot like it was sick or had been injured. And Mick knew it would be difficult to help such a humongous animal.

Mick himself was going to need some help if he wanted to help the whale. He could count on his boat, named the Superfish, and on his own crew of divers. But that wouldn’t be enough. He would need some more.

So he went to the boat’s radio and tried to get in contact with the Marine Mammal Center. They were the first thing that came to his mind, and the only ones he could think of to tackle that problem.

Based in Sausalito, California, the Marine Mammal Center was a nonprofit organization that specialized in that kind of situation. For longer than four decades, its staff had done a great job at helping and assisting whales around that area.

Would they be able to succeed on this occasion?

The Marine Mammal Center’s had one main purpose: to make sure hurt mammals would be taken care of and released back into the ocean safe and sound.

Since its foundation, it had saved more than 20,000 marine mammals, from seals and sea lions to whales.

So they were right about who Mick needed at that moment. As he waited for their response, he prayed that everything would be alright and they would be able to handle the situation.
