The History of Wicker
Before air-conditioning existed, people had to get creative on ways to stay cool during the summer months.
Porches and verandahs became increasingly popular as it created breezy open spaces in the house, so wicker furniture slowly became more in demand as it was breathable.
It Was Fashionable
Magazines during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, informed people that it was time to bring summer into the house. Walls created too much heat, making curtains a great alternative.
They also recommended wicker furniture to create a space that was more light and airy.
