Nausea erupted in her throat, and the surge of adrenaline compelled her to flee.

It was like she was in her worst nightmare, and the ominous dark figure was the villain. He was way too close to her, and his speed and direction were identical to hers. This was a disaster. She only had one option left.

The Only Place She Could Afford

Sandra lived in a very dangerous neighborhood, but unfortunately, it was the only apartment she could afford on her waitressing salary.

Thankfully, she had two things that made her feel a little safer in her home: her reinforced steel door lined with unbreakable locks and her German Shepherd, Bear. He was a colossal, fluffy lifesaver for her.

Bear used to be a police dog that she luckily managed to adopt thanks to a close friend.

Even though he is retired and enjoying the stress-free way of living, he’s clever, devoted, and dangerous in the appropriate circumstances. And this was going to be one of those dreadful experiences.

She Had No Choice

Every time Sandra walked to the nearest ATM, she felt overwhelmed by fear and paranoia. That evening was no different. The sleazy landlord was not going to take the delay any longer.

Her hands were tied, and she had to take her beloved pup to scare away criminals as she walked to the ATM. Around the turn, the first disturbing stumbling block arose.
