Young Athlete Competes for Miss America After This Happens
The world is filled with amazing people that fight to survive and achieve their dreams, no matter how difficult it is, and one great example is a young woman called Victoria Graham.
Although, when you look at her, you only see a beautiful and flawless woman, she struggles with an invisible illness.
Even though her condition is painful, Victoria stands tall on stage, next to other beautiful women. You’d say there’s nothing wrong with her, but then she turns around…
20. An Athlete
Victoria was an athlete when she was in college. She used to play lacrosse, and she was great! But when she was 13, she started feeling unusual pain in the back. Doctors couldn’t pinpoint her illness until they noticed something else.
19. A Flexible Body
You see, Victoria had a flexible body. She also had a history of many injuries, and along with the pain she admitted having as a teenager, the doctors drew a conclusion.
Finally, after three years of unexplained pain, she knew what was wrong with her body…
18. A Terrible Condition
Unfortunately, the news was heartbreaking. Victoria was diagnosed with a rare illness called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). She would then learn everything about it, but instead of breaking her spirit, EDS made her stronger.
Her story is an inspiration to us all!
17. The Rare Disease
EDS is a rare illness that makes the tissue of the bones and skin weaker. Although it allows the body to be very flexible, it causes constant pain and makes it very vulnerable to dislocation of joints.
Victoria had no idea that, while she was in the soccer and lacrosse team, and pushed herself to the limits, she was making her condition worse!
