YouTuber Arya Mosallah is facing criticism for his latest prank, which has him throwing water into the faces of random strangers. Seems like an innocent enough “prank,” but a lot of people are lashing out at the internet-famous Mosallah because of the timing and context of the video.
Arya Mosallah published the video on his channel ItzArya, and it almost immediately generated a slew of negative responses. Why? Mosallah filmed the stunt in London, which has seen a dramatic rise in the amount of acid attacks over the last few years.
In the last two years alone, London has seen an increase of acid attacks by 78 percent. The spread of these attacks has grown as a part of gang warfare and robberies. In one such instance, a 17-year-old attacked six people with acid.
The prank video was taken down due to its insensitive content, but the negative reviews just kept coming in.
People were amazed at how insensitive the video was and how Mosallah ever thought it was a good idea to put it up on the Internet at all.
This could be the era of YouTube celebrities flying too close to the sun and getting burned because of it. First it was Logan Paul, now Arya Mosallah. Who will be next to do something horrendously insensitive on the Internet?
