The Indianapolis Colts don’t seem to be worried Andrew Luck after an injury-plagued season led to his worst year as an NFL quarterback.

Entering his fifth career season, Luck just signed the richest contract in the history of the NFL.

The Colts made the official announcement on Wednesday.

The deal is reportedly worth $140 million over six years, with $87 million in guaranteed money. But despite the margin between the nine-digit figure and the actual guaranteed amount, that's $22 million more in guarantees than any contract in history. Not to mention, Luck has a chance to earn most of that money within his first three years of the contract.

The deal means Luck will become a free agent at 32 years old, the perfect age to switch franchises if he wants to make a mid-career move somewhere else.

Luck improved steadily in each of his first three seasons, making it a little bit further in the playoffs every year. Most consider his fourth season a “throwaway year,” but this is the first time there’s been concern about Luck’s health.

Expectations will certainly be high for him this upcoming season. Fans expect a playoff push from their quarterback and if they don’t get one, things could get shaky in Indy.

But let’s see what a healthy, veteran Andrew Luck can do first.
