The Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl last night thanks to their incredible defense, holding the NFL’s best offense to just 10 points. But if there was anyone on that defensive unit that could have prevented Denver from winning the game, it was cornerback Aqib Talib.
I don’t mean to take anything away from Talib’s athleticism on the football field—I mean, the dude was able to singlehandedly defend Rob Gronkowski and Greg Olsen in back-to-back games. However, he did rack up two personal foul penalties on Sunday before the first half was even over (which would have got him ejected under a new rule proposed by Roger Goodell).
Talib is one of those players that can win you the game with his play, but f*ck it up with his behavior (believe me, I watched him for two years in New England).
That’s probably why the invisible hand of karma smacked down Talib while he was celebrating his team’s victory. Aqib hopped the barrier surrounding NFL Network’s set, attempting to videobomb the postgame show. It didn’t go as planned.
Chris Rose and Michael Irvin’s reaction says it all.
I’m happy for Talib finally earning a ring, but watching him tumble made me even happier.
