Next time someone tries to tell you the man the New Orleans Pelicans acquired during last year’s All-Star weekend is a plus defender, show them highlights of the team’s 130-123 loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday night, in which they’ll see Clint Capela dunk on DeMarcus Cousins no less than six times.
James Harden and Co. routinely embarrassed Cousins with the pick-and-roll, finding the 23-year-old Capela on lobs over and around the flummoxed Pelicans center, who was playing without running mate Anthony Davis.
The fourth of those dunks on Boogie was particularly damaging to Cousins’ ego: the Rockets’ breakout center gave his crotch and the back of the Pelicans big man’s head a long introduction.

On the Pels’ ensuing possession, Cousins shoved Rockets wing Trevor Ariza and got whistled for a technical foul.
Capela shot a ludicrous 13-of-14 from the field for 28 points, taking every single shot from within a foot of the cup.
He was a force on the defensive end as well, swatting five shots. Three came against Cousins at the rim.
