Of Course Joel Embiid Trolled No. 1 Pick Deandre Ayton During The Draft

For Joel Embiid, no one is off limits.

The 76ers center has trolled opponents, a UFC heavyweight, Rihanna, his GM, and countless others.

So when the 2018 NBA Draft‘s No. 1 overall pick, Deandre Ayton, drew comparisons to Embiid, you just knew the NBA’s most valuable troll would chime in.

Draymond Green agreed with Embiid.

The Philly big man’s got a point — when he came into the league, he was a sure thing on the defensive end (health aside) with flashes of offensive potential. Ayton is the other way around, except his defensive flashes are more like the flickering light of a dying flashlight.

Ayton defended his rim protection after getting selected by the Suns on Thursday night.

“I haven’t had the exposure in college to really guard big men, or the big men that I guard haven’t really touched the ball or really do what they were supposed to do,” Ayton told reporters.

“I know the game is changing a lot, but I just want to stick to the old-school big man. Being down low and really trying to be dominant.”

The Suns should probably tell him as soon as possible that protecting the rim is about stopping the entire other team at the hoop, not just his mark.

But when it comes to defending himself against Embiid in his highest-profile moment? The kid’s a pro.

“I don’t have anything to say about that,” he told Yahoo.
