Fired ESPN Reporter Ed Werder Is Such A Dumbass

Remember ESPN’s mass layoffs in 2015 and 2017?

Well now there’s at least one victim of the firings that you no longer have to feel sorry for: NFL reporter Ed Werder.

Women accounted for just 11.4 percent of sports bylines two years ago.

Which is probably why Sports Illustrated’s Charlotte Wilder encouraged women to apply for an open position at the publication.

Werder either misread “especially” as “exclusively” or is so appalled by a woman’s encouraging other women to try their hand in a male-dominated field that he responded thusly:

Uhh, no? Actually she never mentioned either of those things. She also noted she won’t be involved in the hiring process.

But Roger Goodell’s train conductor cousin couldn’t dislodge his fired-ass foot from his throat.

Ugh, don’t do this.

Why, man? Why?

No, she didn’t! Where are you reading that?!

There’s so much wrong with Werder’s stance here. Thankfully the women and men of his industry let him know it.

Unsurprisingly, Werder didn’t apologize.

This isn’t going to help his job search.
