Here’s the tweet, from @WojVertioalNBA instead of @WojVerticalNBA, that attempts to assure the world the Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James will be headed to Los Angeles following the 2017-18 season.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVertioalNBA) June 13, 2017
Unable or unwilling to decipher the difference between an “O” and a “C,” the Around the Horn crew picked up the story and ran with it.
Here’s host Tony Reali sharing the tweet with panelists.
And here are there reactions, starting with Tim Cowlishaw:
And finally, Ramona Shelburne:
After the realizing the mistake, Reali apologized and took the blame for it, citing a similar story from Woj.
I got us @AroundtheHorn burned bad today by a fake tweet (fweet). Uggg this feels the worst.

This was 1000% on me. None of crew referred to tweet, but rather sourced w/real Woj podcast scoop (which was not far off) & their own info.

For what it’s worth, the fake tweet wasn’t that far off from an actual Woj story that Reali thought he was referencing.
“Not only is there no guarantee he’s coming back, I’m not sure there’s an expectation he’s re-signing there [with the Cavaliers],” the real-life Wojnarowski said on his real-life podcast on Wednesday. “I think they feel, I think within Cleveland and around the league, they feel that he’s very much in play to leave again and likely head out West to one of the two LA teams. The Lakers could very well be a target.”
