It’s never easy being a New York Jets fan. Tuesday’s incident is just another reason why fans of the Jets should just keep their eyes closed when things seem to be going well.
Second-year defensive end IK Enemkpali reportedly punched Jets starting quarterback Geno Smith in the locker room on Tuesday, breaking his jaw in two places.
Geno out 6 to 10 weeks becuse of an altercation in the locker room. Broken jaw. Requires surgery. IK Enemkpali hit him. Been released. #Jets

Not surprisingly, the team immediately released Enemkpali after the incident. Jets head coach Todd Bowles has zero tolerance for what happened.
From what I was told, Smith put his finger in Enemkpali's face during an argument and that's what led to the punch.

Todd Bowles said the argument was not football related. #nyj

What provoked the altercation? Bowles: "It was something very childish that 6th graders could have talked about."

Back in May, New York named Smith their opening week starter, despite the 24-year-old’s recent struggles. Now it looks like the ball will be snapped to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is entering his 11th season in the league and has played for four different teams in four seasons.
