Joel Embiid is the Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off‘s dad’s car of the NBA. And on Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers finally took the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider of an NBA center out for his first real spin.
The big man played a career-high 36 minutes, much to the chagrin of all the Los Angeles Clippers frontcourt players, whom he left in his dust.
The Clips found out early on that Blake Griffin doesn’t have close to enough size to slow him down.
Poor DeAndre Jordan fell victim to a jab step jumper, then minutes later couldn’t help himself when Embiid hit him with the shot fake instead, resulting in a huge dunk and a staredown of Griffin.
Thanks to Embiid, Jordan fouled out in 30 minutes of action.

Jordan’s backup, Willie Reed, also submitted to Embiid’s exploits on both ends.

Reed fouled out in just 17 minutes of playing time. Embiid’s dominant performance amounted to 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting to go with 16 rebounds.
After a 109-105 victory, Embiid continued talking trash, even (possibly pretending) to forget Reed’s name.
“Tonight I wanted to go inside against [Jordan] and, uh, I don’t know what’s his name (Reed), but they both fouled out and that was my job today,” the 23-year-old said. “I did a great job on them and they couldn’t guard me.”
