Heading into the 2017 NBA Draft, the average basketball fan probably knew more about one draftee’s father than they did about any of the prospective NBA players: LaVar Ball.
There’s a lot of players to keep track of, but it’s hard to forget that the guy who said he could be Michael Jordan one-on-one averaged 2.2 points on 40.4 percent shooting from the field in college.
But apparently kids are into his never-ending river of inflammatory statements, as a group of them pleaded to get a picture with LaVar at the Barclays Center on draft night.

The adults in the room, thankfully, were not nearly as excited about seeing him. In fact, on his way out of the arena, he was loudly booed.

During the draft, LaVar got his wish, as his son Lonzo Ball was selected at No. 2 overall to the Los Angeles Lakers, something LaVar and, according to him, a few notable figures saw coming.
“I told you,” LaVar said after the selection. “From the words of Zeus, Jesus, everybody said he gonna be a Laker.”
