LeBron James has played an active role in his sons’ rise to basketball stardom, but this past weekend he took things to near LaVar Ball-type levels.

After spending part of an Adidas Uprising event in Las Vegas watching from the stands, James moved to the sidelines for the North Coast Blue Chips AAU team’s game on Saturday, coaching his 12-year-old son LeBron James Jr.

The coaching involved a second half defensive strategy aimed at limiting the damage done by one particular player on the opposing side. After losing 54-51 to the Oakland Soldiers, the Cleveland Cavaliers star supposedly questioned the age of the opposition’s star player and demanded that officials ascertain the kid’s real age.

This according to basketball trainer Devin Williams, apparently the older brother of the Soldiers’ dynamo.

Check out the kid in question’s insane handles at the 1:10 mark in this highlight reel from the matchup.

LeBron Jr. flashed his dribbling skills as well during the tournament, sending a defender skidding to the floor with this behind-the-back dribble.

Williams was complimentary of James’ son following his little brother’s squad’s victory.

Come on, guys. Kyrie Irving has requested a trade. Dan Gilbert is as incompetent an owner as there is in the NBA (well, almost). LeBron’s real team is falling apart. Can’t you see he needs this?
