Nick Novak, formerly of the San Diego Chargers, is not presently on an NFL roster.

But the kicker appears to be working on that.

On Sunday, for the second week in a row, his former team, now dubbed the Los Angeles Chargers, suffered a brutal loss after rookie kicker Younghoe Koo missed yet another field goal in the closing seconds.

While with no caption we can’t definitively say whether or not Novak’s ensuing tweet was in response to the Chargers’ kicking struggles, the timing—25 minutes after the team fell to 0-2—would certainly make it appear that way.

Novak posted a video of himself drilling a kick from what seems to be 45 yards away—Koo had a 44-yarder blocked to seal a 24-21 defeat against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, then plain old missed a 44-yarder that would have bested the Miami Dolphins, who won 19-17 instead.

Chargers fans got excited.

Why yes, yes he is a free agent.

Novak spent four seasons as the Chargers kicker, from 2011 to 2014. Then he spent the last two seasons with the Houston Texans

Maybe he has a beef with rookie kickers—the Texans cut Novak in the week leading up to their first game in favor of rookie Ka’imi Fairbairn.

Following their second consecutive loss on a missed kick in the closing seconds, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said he’d consider bringing in kicking competition for Koo.

“Well, we’re always looking to improve in that area,” Lynn said. “Always.”
