Even at an event during which he won an award for best championship performance, Kevin Durant couldn’t escape being ridiculed for jumping from the Oklahoma City Thunder ship to join up with a Golden State Warriors team that had won a record 73 games without him the season prior.
As part of his opening monologue, ESPYS host and former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning hit Durant with a joke that’s been done many times before—but not usually to his face.
“Our gymnastics team was so dominant that Kevin Durant told me he wants to play for them next year,” Manning said, pointing at an apparently unamused Durant. “I gotta tell you, I don’t think you’d start for that team Kevin.”
Manning then asked Durant’s former teammate, Russell Westbrook, to weigh in.

Durant’s mother Wanda is loving it, and the 2017 NBA Finals MVP’s deadpan glare appears to be too spot-on for him to have been unprepared.
He tweeted this shortly after.
