Ricky Rubio Proves He Can Actually Dunk With Throwdown Against Nigeria

With new president and head coach Tom Thibodeau taking over a roster loaded with young talent, many Minnesota Timberwolves will be asked to expand their games for a man so perpetually screamy his voice's default setting is hoarse.

For Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, that means playing defense. For Karl-Anthony Towns, that means becoming the focal point of the team's offense.

And for Ricky Rubio, maybe that means finding a spot—any spot—that he can score from.

The 25-year-old Spaniard is not great from deep, a career 31.8 percent long-range shooter. But he's also pretty miserable inside the arc, shooting a paltry 46 percent in the paint in 2015-16. In fact, Pretty Tricky Ricky is so weak at the rim that in five seasons, he's never dunked in an NBA game.

So maybe that's why Rubio threw down in Spain's Olympic matchup against Nigeria on Thursday.

Sure, it's not much of a dunk. But a dunk nonetheless.

Happy now, Thibs?
