Take note: If you care at all about your phone, don’t use it to film an NBA player who’s just been booted from a contest, particularly on an off shooting night.
One fan at the Utah Jazz‘s 107-104 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night didn’t heed this advice, and he paid the ultimate price (or not, depending on whether he had an upgrade available): Rodney Hood slapped a phone out of his hand.
Hood was hit with a second technical with under three minutes to play in the third quarter. Someone sitting courtside (I hesitate to describe him as a Jazz fan, and you’ll see why in a second) tried filming Hood from mere inches away when the fourth-year pro did his Dikembe Mutombo impression on the phone.

A lot of people then joked that, in the attendee’s position, they’d feign injury.

But our guy kinda did just that—we’re not sure if he claimed to have been hurt or not, but he apparently tried to get the police involved.
It seems the fan who had his phone slapped away by Rodney Hood wanted some kind of police action. Doesn’t sound like that will happen, but I’m sure the NBA will have something come down soon.

Thankfully for Hood, who finished with seven points on 3-of-11 shooting, he has NBA veteran Jared Dudley counseling him on his defense.
I would say I was trying to hi five everybody on the way out 😂 https://t.co/FgRw7wT9Aj
