But Rams head coach Sean McVay has one-upped the newest Lakers superstar.
In an interview with HBO’S “Real Sports,” McVay recalled specific plays thrown out by Bryant Gumbel dating back to Week 5 of the 2017 season — nine months earlier.
“Last year, Week 16, you’re playing the Titans. You got the ball second-and-11 at your own 20, 4:24 left in the second quarter,” Gumbel said. “Do you remember what happened?”
McVay’s reply: “Second-and-11? I can probably say when we are going in, we flipped the field. That was when we hit [Todd] Gurley on the 80-yard screen. On the first play, we went negative one. And the series before that, they recovered a fumble for a touchdown when our guard went the wrong way.”

McVay, who led the Rams to a nearly unprecedented turnaround last season, went on to nail two other plays named by Gumbel: a Trumaine Johnson interception against the Giants in Week 9, and a Jared Goff pass in Week 5 that got picked off by the Seahawks’ Sheldon Richardson.
The Rams are gonna be scary good this year.
