Stephen A. Smith Has Made the Wrong NBA Finals Prediction for 6 Years Straight

If you’re the kind of person that bets on the NBA Finals every year, listen to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. Then bet against him.

If that’s been your strategy for the last six years, you’re probably rich.

That’s because Stephen A. has made the wrong 50/50 selection each season since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach. The First Take “pundit” loves to pick King James, he just always seems to do it during the wrong season.

A wonderful YouTuber put this video compilation together, showing every single Stephen A. Finals prediction since 2011 and their outcomes. It’s truly beautiful to watch.

On a sad note, Stephen A. had to say goodbye to his longtime colleague Skip Bayless, who made his last appearance on First Take Tuesday before jumping ship to Fox Sports. And while I’ve done my fair share of bashing Skip and Stephen A., I’m sad to see the most entertaining duo in sports split.

That’s also what critics of First Take fail to realize. This is a story making fun of Stephen A. and his predictions. But that’s all they are, predictions. Nobody is betting on the stock market and telling people where to put their money, nobody is sounding off on who should be the next president. It’s just two entertaining dudes, who often have unusual but unique opinions, talking about sports.

Sometimes these guys are held to a standard like they’re political journalists. But they’re not. They’re entertainers. And when it comes to commenting on sports, that’s okay.

Check out Stephen A. Smith’s emotional goodbye to Skip Bayless below.
