For fans of the biggest upset in NCAA tournament history, victory tastes like pizza, or whatever it is Little Caesars calls pizza.

After University of Maryland, Baltimore County dismantled the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers to become the first No. 16 seed to best a No. 1 in NCAA tournament history (136 tries), the Retrievers remained hot on the tails of the No. 9 Kansas State Wildcats for much of the teams’ Round of 32 matchup before KSU ultimately eluded the Cinderellas for a 50-42 victory in one of the uglier college basketball games you’ll ever see.

But even without a heartbreakingly close loss in the second round, the Retrievers had already pawed their way into the hearts of hoops heads thanks to their shocking upset — and into the hearts of fans of free pizza.

Knowing that a No. 16 seed had never defeated a No. 1, Little Caesars put free lunch combos on the line in the event of the unthinkable.

Fortunately for us and unfortunately for the pizza chain, crazy happened, and they’re honoring the free pizza promotion.

For their efforts in the first round, the Retrievers got something even better — or, depending on how you feel about Under Armour’s shoes, almost as good as $5 worth of bad pizza — for free: limited-release Curry 5s, courtesy of Stephen Curry himself.
