Chicago Bears head coach John Fox admitted to what anyone watching the team for the 99 percent of downs in which they aren’t running a trick play already knows: That these guys have no clue what they’re doing. Or, as Fox put it: “We don’t know exactly what we’re doing.”

The admission came during Fox’s “explanation” of the Bears’ unexpected cutting of wide receiver Tre McBride on Tuesday.

Yeah, that much was clear long before Fox made one of the most hilariously dumb challenge blunders in league history, and even before the team gave Mike Glennon $19 million in guaranteed money.

McBride’s three-catch, 92-yard effort in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints was the team’s greatest air yardage output of the season for a Bears wideout.

He reportedly was involved in an argument with fellow wide receiver Josh Bellamy, 28, who has 27 more receiving yards on the season than does McBride, a 25-year-old in his third season, at 171.

The Bears are 3-8. They’ve gained just 280 first downs through 11 games, third-worst in the league behind fellow dumpster fires the New York Giants and the Cincinnati Bengals
