In 2007, Washington lost his role as Dr. Preston Burke on the medical drama after he was overheard using a homophobic slur while referring to his co-star, T.R. Knight. The actor did guest star on the show in 2014, to give another beloved “Grey’s” character, Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, a proper send-off.
