Amos played the role of the dad, James Evan Sr. on “Good Times”, but he wasn’t happy with the direction, particularly the jiving of the series, like Jimmie Walker’s “Dy-no-mite!” So after voicing his displeasure to the producers, he was told to take a hike and the show went on without him.
