Even though he did not nab the title character, Quaid’s appearance in Wyatt Earp would change his life forever. And not in a good way. Quaid was set to star as Doc Holliday. However, Holliday died a terrible death. Doc eventually passed on from tuberculosis. The role required Quaid to lose considerable amounts of weight. His 40-pound weight loss caused Quaid to develop anorexia nervosa. This coupled with his cocaine habit really left the star in dire straits health-wise.
