Public Apology
Thirty-two years after Miss America officials stripped Williams of her Miss America title, they invited her to be the pageant’s head judge in 2016. During the pageant, Miss America CEO Sam Haskell took the stage to apologize publicly to Williams and her mother for “anything that was said or done that made you feel any less than the Miss America you are.” The audience gave Williams a standing ovation.
