The Martian
While many of Ridley Scott’s masterpieces like Alien or Blade Runner have a glum, dark, borderline nihilistic aesthetic and outlook, The Martian proves Scott can be an optimist when he needs to. A crew of the brightest and best must save Matt Damon, an astronaut stranded on Mars, and the picture sparkles with crackerjack dialogue and a surprising amount of warm humor.
