This exit via wooden spoon is how the story ended when it was first collected by the Brothers Grimm but apparently it lacked some good old fairy tale gore. In some later published versions Rumpelstiltskin becomes so furious that he’s lost the name game that he stomps through the floor, trapping one of his legs. It doesn’t stop there though, in an attempt to free himself Ragefest McGee rips himself in two. Someone needs to works on his deep breathing.
