Shalene Woodley plays Jane “No-Middle-Name” Chapman. She’s asingle mom who recently moved to the small California town with her son Ziggy. Jane is defined by her two strongest feelings: 1) love for her son, and 2) fear of his father. He was a mysterious man who violently assaulted her one night at a hotel. Unable to remember his face, Jane lives in an almost constant state of panic. She knows that any man could potentially be her attacker. She later tests the emotional waters of vengeance when she buys a gun and hunts down a suspect. But the truth is eventually revealed to her from an unexpected source.
