Demeter is a harvest goddess and the mother of Persephone. When the girl is abducted by Hades to the Underworld, her mom is so distraught that she refuses to let anything grow until her daughter is brought back and her grief has been alleviated. Renata shares a very similar connection with her daughter Amabella, even going so far as to engage in a physical fight with Jane over the subject. Afterwards, they manage to find common ground and even become close friends. As for Demeter, she managed to secure visitation rights with her daughter for half the year.
