The 17th century House of the Seven Gables was Nathaniel Hawthorne’s inspiration to write the classic novel of the same name in 1851. And aside from the fact that it’s located in Salem, the site where many witches were burned at the stake, it’s also very haunted. According to the staff, there have been several ghost sightings on the property. And in October, the house offers guests spooky tours, too.
