Queen Anne Hotel, California
In 1890, a senator opened a finishing school for girls so his teen daughters could live near him. Mary Lake was the headmistress, but the school closed six years later. This left her so distraught that she left San Francisco. The site was eventually turned into the Queen Anne Hotel and it’s said that Mary Lake now haunts room 410, where her former office reportedly was.
