As much as they wanted to, the clinic staff were not able to give the squirrel the level of constant attention that it needed. Fortunately for the staff at the clinic and the squirrel, Allen worked from home. That meant that he could give the animal round the clock care. Allen had no experience as a vet but he quickly learned how to feed the baby squirrel with a syringe by copying the way mother squirrels nursed their young. Allen knew that it was risky but he wanted to do all he could to help the poor animal.
