Biggest And Hairiest Deputy
Everyone knows Chewbacca, the beloved Wookie companion of Han Solo in the Star Wars films. This gigantic character was brought to life thanks to Peter Mayhew who genuinely stood 7’4”. The suit he wore was a complex creation that was made from yak and rabbit fur while also containing a water cooling system. This system was used so that the actor wouldn’t over heat while acting.
Believe it or not, the biggest problem with the suit happened to be the eyes. The makeup supervisor, Stuart Freeborn, complained about the fact that his eyes would look hollow due to the fact that his eyes would occasionally detach from the suit. Amazingly, Mayhew, who sadly passed away in 2019 at the age of 74, managed to do all the filming while still doing his day job as a deputy porter.
