As Lucy’s career went from strength to strength her opportunities did as well. in December 2000 she became the first Asian woman to host Saturday Night Live along with the rapper Jay-Z. It took 18 years for another Asian woman to host the show in 2018 after Awkwafina hosted. She even took a moment to thank Lucy for opening the door for her and others like her. She applauded Lucy for her authenticity and her acting skills. But beneath the surface, something was brewing within Lucy. She needed a change. A fresh start.
