8. The “Unconditional Surrender” of Germany
In 1943, January, Roosevelt and Churchill had a press conference close to Casablanca. Roosevelt called for the “unconditional surrender” of Germany, which surprised Churchill. These few words made the German troops fight even more desperately, prolonging hostility and costing more lives.
