The Soviets had a non-aggression treaty, but the Nazis invaded. They prepared against blitzkrieg, but made the mistake of placing 600,000 men in Kiev and losing them in a war. Hitler marched close to Moscow but the brutal winter was on the Soviets’ side that time.
