The Nazi Germany surrendered, and both General Patton and Winston Churchill were keeping an eye on the Soviets, seeing the possibility of a growing dominance. Churchill and his war cabinet came with a pan called Operation Unthinkable to drive back the Soviet forces from Easter Europe. But the greatest mistake was not to follow the plan after his cabinet said that the Soviets might bombard the UK. The allies backed off, the Iron Curtain fell, and the Cold War began.
