28. Tommy Rettig
In the ’50s, he was the adorable boy whose sidekick was the ubiquitous Lassie. After Lassie, he went on to star in a teen drama called Never Too Young, alongside Tony Dow. But like many young stars on this list, Tommy Rettig did not wish to shoulder the responsibilities of an actor forever.
As an adult, he found work as a computer software engineer. While he enjoyed his work, he often found it difficult to shake his identity as the boy from Lassie. He gave motivational speeches from time to time, but stuck to his true calling, working with computers. He did this up until his death in 1996.
