Even though Alexandria Police Union Representative Pete Feltham commended the diner for its cooperation and swift apology, the damage had already been done — even when the diner scrambled to hang posters supporting police officers outside the restaurant.
He added that he felt that Baker “handled the situation perfectly” — he disengaged rather than escalate the confrontation. However, he said that he was surprised that an incident such as this happened in Alexandria because the police force typically has a good relationship with residents and local businesses.
