This 1995 film was a roaring hit with so much to enjoy about it. Mel Gibson played an amazing William Wallace, that steely Scottish knight. He even sported that kilt proudly. Unfortunately, for historical accuracy’s sake, he and his fellow men probably should have forgone the kilts. Indeed, when it comes to Scottish stereotypes, there is nothing more Scottish seeming than some lovely kilts. The thing is, the people of Scotland did not just emerge kilt-clad one day. The kilt was not introduced until much later in time, which would not have been in 1280, the year during which the film was set.
