The 2003 Pirates Of The Carribean dazzled audiences and launched a successful franchise. 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End was the third movie in the series where the Black Pearl and her crew are heading to Singapore. Fans of history noticed a glaring error. The movie franchise is set during 1700’s which makes it difficult for the crew to reach Singapore. This is because Singapore as a country didn’t exist until 1819 when the British created a trading post there. During the period in which the movie is set, the Johor Sultanate controlled the area.
