14. A Successful First Intervention

Fifteen hours later, the doctors were able to separate the twins’ brains, and they had to separate the brains with a plastic sheet to keep them apart until the next intervention. The doctors even needed to add a pulley system to make sure that the brains were sitting in their own side.
The remodeled skull was back on, and the girls were now recovering. However, this was only a small step. They had to come back a month later for the second operation, when the veins would be separated.
