Dustin Lance Black, the award-winning writer of 2009’s Milk, was rather disgusted by Smith’s claim. He sent a message to Smith on Twitter, in which he made his feelings clear. At the time Black was engaged to Olympic diver Tom Daley. Black sent a video clip of his Oscar victory with a comment saying: “If you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiancé.”
