The Oldest Permanent Amphitheater is in Pompeii
Built around 70 BC, Pompeii’s amphitheater is the earliest Roman arena to be built by stone as they all were previously built out of wood. Pompeii’s amphitheater could hold a whopping 20,000 people and preceded Rome’s Colosseum.
