Tracy had done the research just two weeks after graduating high school and had managed to find a detailed map of the area. She packed all she needed and got on a bus with Hans to the border of Mexico. That was the start of the Pacific Crest Trail.
Tracy wanted to explore the entire trail and planned to walk for as long as she could. She would stop for something to eat, continue her walk, and then pitch her tent somewhere she and Hans could sleep comfortably. But she had no way of telling that things wouldn’t go according to plan.
