Sara had to take a minute to look at the messages on her phone. By the time she got inside the building, she had found they were busy processing the case. They hadn’t been able to reach Elijah’s father. It seemed that he had his phone off. The kid wasn’t around where they were doing the calling — he was elsewhere in the building. They had been trying to reach his mother, but she was just as difficult to contact as his father.
