9. Uttar Pradesh Association Of Dead People

It was 1975 when Lal Bihari tried to apply for a bank loan in Uttar Pradesh, India. He was denied because there was a Lal Bihari that had already been declared dead. It took him 18 years to prove he was alive (his uncle bribed an official so that he could inherit Bihari’s land). The man found he was not the only one going through this issue and formed the Uttar Pradesh Association of Dead People. Their goal is to make the government acknowledge they’re alive and get back their possession from the corrupt people.
In 2003, Bihari received the Ig Noble Peace Prize for his deeds!
