7. The Hemlock Society
In 1980, Derek Humphry founded the Hemlock Society in his own garage. It soon became the largest organizations in the US that fights for people’s right to die. Their belief is that people should be allowed to legally end their lives using medication prescribed by doctors – in case of those that suffered from terminal or untreatable diseases.
The group later changed the name to End of Life Choices, later to merge with Compassion & Choices.
